Antoinette had a younger brother named Pierre who had like on has some non specified like mental and physical illnesses that made his life difficult. He dies in this fire and Antoinette's mother sort of blames or yeah blames Antoinette for this, so she ends up being sent to a convent. She is the families kind of broken up. They don't really aside from Mr Mason leaving Antoinette a fair amount of money because he had some affection for her. We get like half of the book from the perspective of Mr Rochester surprise who comes in here a few years after all this has happened.
