Dialysis and Bicarb in Critically Ill Patients

I don't put a lot of critically ill patients on continuous IV fluid, but that's not because I don't think they need ongoing fluid. Most of the time, this is sepsis. This is what you most commonly see in the ICU. And again, I think back to our trials of early goal directed therapies. They're getting 1.5 to 2.5 liters sort of in the first 24 hours. So yes, when I see these patients, I'm going to give them a liter bolus.
