The Evolution of the Carbohydrate Insulin Model

I don't think it makes any sense from an evolutionary perspective. Why would you want an organism's physiology and its energy balance to be controlled by this random environmental variable of how much carbohydrate there is in the environment? That doesn't make any sense. Especially for a tropical species where it's not really seasonal, it's not like you're trying to store fat at a certain time of year that corresponds to maximum carbohydrate availability. If you're an engineer trying to design an organism to survive on the African savannah, you're not going to allow such an important variable as body fat to be taken into account. It doesn't making any sense. I have been an advocate of the energy balance model
