How I Learned to Drink and Keep Friends
The first time Matt started drinking he was 14 years old. In Scotland, it's an all to start drinking at 11 and being cool is to drink. He had a lot of mental health issues when he was 15 - post traumatic stress disorder among them. It made him more sociable so he would be less likely to have PTSD symptoms drunk. When sober his body pumped with cortisol, which is anxiety inducing. So it's a double edged sword, temporary relief for potentially more suffering later on.
