When our mind is wandering, we think about our goals 14 times as oft as when we're focused on something. Research shows that we come up with more ideas when we're doing something habitual because our attention ebbs and flows with that activity. There's there's a rhythmd to our attention, kind of like a heartbeat, where sometimes we need to intervene with something that we're doing out of habit.
