This chair belonged to john winthrop junior, who was a physician and governor of the colony of connecticut. He died in 16 76 while still in office as governor and while serving as a director of the united colonies of new england during phillip's war. So this chair was in the property and estate of john winthrop Junior when he died in he 16 seventies. And it is today in the collection of the connecticut historical society.
