Generic Refampen and Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis

A recent clinical study that came out in CID looked at clinical outcomes for patients with prosthetic valve endocarditis, either secondary to staph aureus or coag negative staph. And what they found were that despite all of the isolates being susceptible to Refampen, only 101 patients were treated with Refampen and then 79 patients received no Refampen. So clinically, you know, we're not seeing that there's a benefit to addition of Refampen in these patients.
