i differ a little bit with the characterizations that have been offered by a number of people about whether china was actually a mediator in the south sudan conflict. I think it presented itself as such, but in reality, it wasn't actually mediating. It was orting the wider regional mediation. But i think you have to see these developments as indeed part of a pattern because not only was there this chinese support to the mediation in south sedan,. There was also then chinese peace keepers in the u.N mission, chin funding for implementation of the agreement and follow up when things weren't going so well.
