The Effects of Beta Hydroxybutyrate on Diabetes

When you release ketones, the beta hydroxybutyrate is a greater ratio than the acetoacetate. That indicates- Well, that's a test for diabetes, by the way. One of the older test for diabetes type 2 was the ratio of 3 beta hydroxy butyrate over acetoacetates. So basically, if you're in a reductive state, the ketones are used as emergency oxidants and then you become basically a beta hydroxyButyrate.
