Is the Android Framework for Decoding a Monolithic Step?
Trans coding involves getting media in one format and then converting it into a new format. You can't kind of optimize those two steps together as a monolithic step. It would be much nicer if you could cue compressed imput and then, without coming back to the application process at all. That's definitely really difficult to do.
