There is evidence that they were not what greer makes them sound like. Greer portrays himself as bravely standing up to intimidation by military officials who then turn out to be jealous of him. He's a really strange bird.

Dr. Steven Greer for years has led the "Disclosure" movement to have the US government reveal what it knows about extraterrestrials, says he's conducting diplomacy with aliens on behalf of the human race and says he can summon the peaceful aliens and can teach others to do so as well.
