The History of the Bank of the United States

The Bank of the United States was founded in 1791 by Alexander Hamilton. It did a lot of private business, but it also did government business for the federal government. In 1811, its charter from Congress would expire and state banks lobbied congress to not renew it. The bank ran into trouble 20 years later with Andrew Jackson.
