The Effects of CFCs on the Ozone Layer

Industrial chemicals called chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs were common in refrigerators, industrial processes and aerosol sprays. The more CFCs released into the atmosphere, the more the O3 ozone broke apart. But that's not all: chlorine from CFCs reacted with the O3 to become chlorine monoxide. And eventually, guess what? That same chlorine atom was freed to react with even more ozone and repeat the process.
