The Hubris of Contemporary Knowledge
If we sort of tried to pretend that history started with us then, then we aren't going to have any. One of the many, many problems of which is that you would for instance not have the wisdom to know about what a bubble is. You might need that wisdom. And my suspicion is that on, on other subjects as well as economics that sort of thinking has been coming in. We know more than Plato because we living after him. We live, we know more than Aristotle and Socrates because we live after them.
