The Story of Ned and Julia Conner

Ned and Julia Conner came to Chicago in 1893 for the world's exposition. The fair was going to be a massive spectacle, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors. Holmes offered them jobs at his jewelry store on the first floor; they moved into an apartment there. Ned felt uncomfortable with Holmes because he seemed overly interested and attentive to both women.
