Emotional agility is helping children to label their emotions. When we help our children to do that, there are longitudinal studies showing that it helps them develop greater levels of resilience and well being. A child who has skills at labelling their emotion is then able to create greater space between stimulus and response. The learning here? Emotions are transient. They pass. I don't need to be directed by any given emotion. Number two, i get to choose who i want to be. Situation number three, emotions are not scary. And it's these kirls that are going to help our children.
