Late afternoon, early evening is a good time for things that require some kind of mental looseness. You might want to do your brainstorming late in the day or early in the evening when people are less vigilant. The Biggest Bluff by Maria Conakova was a great meditation on something we don't think enough about in our lives: luck. Another book I really liked lately was a book called Overground Railroad by Candicey Taylor.
