Yes he was certainly saw himself as I suppose the intellectual superior of many of the people he would have found around in Ireland. Although he'd been intended for B deals for school the Grand Public School in England he ended up going to the local Christian Brothers School when the family had financial difficulties. He remembered he once described as feral he was more or less left to run wild after the age of sort of six or seven around the family estates but you're absolutely right that he came to be seen as a symbol of establishment high handedness.
