The School System in Trinidad and Tobago

Colonizers were not interested in educating their subjects because of fears of slavery votes and things like that. When any kind of education did take place eventually, it was primarily religious education. And then when we procured independence in 1962, there was a clamoring for mass education. So now today we have an intricate system where it is a dual system, part created in the colonial era, and a great part created in post-independence era.
