The buddhist origin of meditation explains that we're ordinarily plagued by thoughts and emotions that agitate our minds. The tibetan buddhist view of mind is particularly attractive to westerners in that it doesn't require us to give up pleasure, work, relationships or conflict. It simply gives us the contemplative tools to let go of the addiction, rage and fear that accompany these experiences. An unagitated mind is cntented - this state is achievable through meditation.
