I was 10 riding the New York subways by myself. Horrendous. The trains were covered with graffiti. It felt like a dungeon, you know. There's actually an excellent book by a photographer named Bruce Davidson chronicling that period of the New York subway. And I loved it. Of course. Well, why wouldn't it?
