How Much User Research Do You Do?

If you're a UX driven organization, then user research becomes part of the DNA. You are able to predict what you're going to learn in the research. But don't confuse that with confirmation bias, which is a different phenomenon. If we're doing stuff that's more phenomenological and less task oriented, I ask what phenomena we may actually observe. And frankly, if it turns out they're like 90 to 100% accurate at predicting what the users will do or the parts where they get it wrong really aren't influencing the design outcomes at all. We can scale back on the research because these guys are literally living the dream. They are living what users do well.
