Translator walter coffman says that section 15 was supposed to be the end of the book. I don't know the whole story, like why he continued it, but that he later regretted writing the rest of it. He saw enough in his own culture, in wagner himself, in that kind of music that he thought was pushing in the right direction. We could have, you know, more dionysian influenced set of art works,. whereas the kind of opera that he was object too certainly had gotten all shallow.
