Jesus, Movement and the Conditions in First Century Palestine
In Galilee where Jesus was born and raised, there were two major urban developments as he's growing up. And these urban centers extract resources from the countryside to be built. This provides a context for different competing material and ideological interests in the Eastern Mediterranean which helps us explain what happened right of Jesus movement. Robert: Some historians will say some really kind of careless things about seeing there was no sign of revolt. But I think we try to be a lot more nuanced than that.
