How Do We Break Cycles of Violence?
There's a theory that the choruses of greek dramas were actually performed by eighteen and nineteen year olds called e phebes. And i like that theory because it sort of, it almost semed like the greeks were taking the young people and exposing them to the complexity of adult life. The only way to break that cycle is to acknowledge the tramas and the wounds that inform and create the violence that we enact on othersa. That's why the work that gets done eno by violence interrupters of formally gang affiliated youth in new york city, we partner with them quite a bit.
