The Problem Is That We'll Find Our Own Experts
In some states, including california, sheriffs and coroners are the same people. A judge is not a scientist. They don't know. Very often when weare deciding people's futures, we're flying blind,. so are the people in the room that are charged with making objective, accurate, non partisan decisions. In an actual scenario like that, probably what should happen is that a judge should break for the day, at least the day, go and do some research. You couldn't do enough research till i actually become an expert, but at least could come back and make a slightly more informed ruling about whether this evidence is reliable or not.
