The Role of Self Preferential Bias in the Spread of Methods
Self preferential bias is the sort of thing that's driving the phenomenon where you have people continuing to use a method, even though there's a better alternative available. MBI was this great case because we had all this information gathered by an actual journalist who could document why people were adopting it. It's harder to see that in most disciplines, you don't necessarily know why people continue to use a bad method or why they adopted it in the first place.
