Application security is a process to build and then test, and then maintain and operate software. Every single thing you do to try to ensure that the software is secure is part of AppSec. The eating metaphor is a new one to me. I'm actually going to go with a dance metaphor. That's been exactly- Lough for you can be scary. But hey, that's my definition of cloud security.
