What Happened to the First Versions of the Religious Freedom Bill?
The first versions of this religious freedom bill were an attempt to provide legal protections for people who have religious beliefs. There was a lot of pushback from er advocates, l gbtc rights and human rights groups equality advocates said that this bill was too extreme. Some faith communities also believed it didn't go far enough. So the government was starting to be stuck between two competing constituencies on this. And there's been a lot of pressure because now we're approaching another federal election.
