Jeffrey Toobin: I'm an a priori physicalist. One reason is that I came to worry a great deal about the causal problem for non-physicalist views. We know enough about the cause-ish to behavior and know that it's all done by physical properties, he says. So, that's a bit of metaphysics. Plus a conviction that mental-states play causal roles.
