Automated Vehicles - How Safe Is Safe?

There is this central question that has hung over everyone involved in automated driving. And I think it has no clear answer, but it's this question of how safe is safe enough? How do we begin to kind of grapple with that question? It is a very difficult one because we don't have the same tools that we have with conventional vehicles.
