Is All the Knowledge in the Genes?

David Deutsch says animals are more creative than our current AIs. John Sutter: I don't think it's clearly a true statement. We could probably perform experiments to determine if parrots normally have a concept of numbers, and I suspect the answer is going to be no, they don't. But you could always make the case because the animals, they're hard to test, it's hard to replicate the conditions. You can always come up with some ad hoc explanation for why that is, quote, knowledge in the genes.
