The plane was a 12 year old Boeing 737 200, surfacing Copa Airlines flight 201. The captain by Rafael Carlos Chial had 23,750 flight hours, of which about 7,000 were in a Boeing 737. First officer was Cesario Tejada, who was 25 years old with 3,450 flight hours,. That's not like a brand new pilot by the stretch of the imagination.
