Milk Sickness - The Protagonist and the Antagonist of Our Story

By the late nineteenth century, milk sickness had effectively disappeared with the closing of the frontier a i. The name actually lived on for quite some time because william osler included it in his famous text book even though he had never seen a case. It was so rare in the beginning of the twentieth century that when the a international classification of diseases, the i c d, was formed, it wasn't even included. There have been clusters of cases in the twentieth century. The most recent i could find from the 19 sixties, which was entitled tremetal poisoning. We know now that tremetal kills by causing a severe cito acidosis. Snake root poisoning developed in a typical manner.
