How Do You Know What You're Doing?
I've been writing songs for 30 years and part of me thinks they're really, really good. But I've never had a song on the radio. So what do you have a direction? Like there's so much there. It's not like one obvious route. This is just to get a laugh. This is to make people cry. You can sort of do it all. Oh, my songs tell stories. There's always more story to come. And I'm interested in harmonic complexity to an extent. If I look at if this playing goes down or I'll take lonely tonight, you don't, you haven't got the full picture until you get to the last note.
