Is the First Crusade a Good Place to Start?
The first crusade was a Christian attempt to capture the Holy Land. The Christians set out on this almost impossible mission and they sort of succeed. It is quite remarkable that in 1095 when Pope Urban the second goes to Claremont to demonstrate that the French king of Dusse of administer of Sahib, he's fundamentally gay. He just strikes an extraordinary chord with the idea that you can harness the martial prowess of early medieval Europe on a pilgrimage or a holy grail type mission. Literally tens of thousands of people start screaming east much to everybody's both amazement and to in some circumstances it is a horror.
