Volare, by Italian actor singer Domenico Modunio, was remarkably beloved in America in 1958 at a time when even British pop was considered exotic. Volare won the first ever Grammys for Record of the Year and Song of the Year and came in third in that year's Eurovision Song Contest. The songs it defeated for the 1958 Billboard title included The Everly Brothers All I Have to Do Is Dream and Elvis Presley's Don't and I Beg of You.
