Schizophrenia, Multiple Personality Disorder
Schizophrenia is another term that gets used vernacularly in a slapdash way. In fiction, schizophrenia might be portrayed by an actor, cycling through their full catalogue of characters. If we're diagnosing that at all, it would likely be disassociative identity disorder or what used to be called multiple personality disorder. Do you think the film and book Psycho have led people to associate psychopaths with murderers who have mother obsessions? Probably. I saw a film, there was a 60s film about a serial killer with a dull obsession.
