The History of the British Wool Industry
During the 17th century, when you died, your relatives were legally forced to bury you in wool. This was for no other reason than to support the ailing wool industry. If you weren't buried in wool, you were fined five pounds which is the equivalent of 550 pounds today. You had to go to the church and swear, like based on the Bible, go, we buried them in wool.
