Number one is a planning ation and decision making based on the information that you have with regard to fuel, weather and topography. The second is an escape route which will get you to a zone that's safe enough to stand in while the fire burns by. And the third is it is a deployment zone where the fire shelters would be a deployed in the case of inability to escape.
