In the eyes of scots themselves and much of the rest of the world, Scotland has become a symbol of everything that has been lost. And what are those things that we feel we've lost? Attachment to a place, attachment to small social groups, attachment to traditions across time,. These are the things that i think modern people believe that they are missing in their mobile, uprooted lives. This is an essential dilemma that people are always, i think, skirting.
