If you work at a place where they say, you know, you need to use 10 year old technology and there's no opportunity to try new things like fast API. What you end up with is a whole bunch of people who that work there who don't want to learn any new technologies or are not deeply passionate about programming. And I think it's cool that the place you're working at allows that right because he thinks it's one of the signs of a healthy tech.
