The Prophecy of Pharaoh and the Philistines
The Philistines had formally been important as an Egyptian satellite. They were caught in the middle of these great powers, and their fate was largely determined by them. The prophecy is dated from before Pharaoh struck down Gaza. It seems most probable that the Egyptian attack that's mentioned in verse 1 occurred around 600 BC. After this there will come a further attack and a more decisive attack from the north.
