The Politics of American Imperialism
I think that unlike the aroc war, in which americans were basically just encouraged to consume more and enjoy it, this is a crisis that's maybe for the first time and hundred years, actually affecting everyday Americans. I don't know if we're necessarily going to take that moment to broaden our sense of compassion or or sympathy, or whether it will drive us to be ever more introverted and dismiss the sufferings of others even when we're directly responsible. If there is any hope for something good to come out of this crisis, i would hope that one of the things is ending the fucking sanctions against iran - they are an inhumanitarian thing in and of itself during this devastating plague
