I always start by asking them, tell me something in the last 30 days where you are not on the same financial page. And I do this because it's very easy to talk in platitudes about money. For example, why should you have to check with your partner for something that involves kids' safety? Shouldn't that be agreed upon already? So those are a couple of first ways that I get into the conversation with these couples. What do you think are some of the most damaging things children can hear growing up around money?
