I think a lot of people who are in academia will recognize this sort of strange system where whatever you do isn't good enough and so I think when I was at that seminar listening and being told all these sort of ways you could achieve it was still making me feel like but if you don't achieve it's going to be blamed on you it's your fault. Most of the things that go wrong in academia are not your fault, she says. "Academia is an ableist and racist and sexist and homophobic and transphobic space" She also talks about her miscarriages which were kept secret because she didn't want to lose out career wise.
