In the second century, a group of eunuchs at court were even granted royal titles. They led a successful cop to replace another empress, dowager and her son,. The emperor shun reigned for 19 years but died mysteriously after only six months on the throne. Seven years after that, university students in loiang took to the streets to protest against the corrupt officials in the government. At the advice of the eunuch's power, the emperor had all of the students involved arrested.
