The First Novel by Simon Dixon
The novel doesn't really end. Lenskye is very romantic, so he thinks tat is ong ren hom his marrage is taken up. He writes her a letter, in fact, he writes her several letters, and then she rejects him in a beautifully phrased rejection. The symbol of all that is the french language. It's a symbol of sort of fecklessness and affectation in his case, and superficiality in everything. This is a man who's off with the latest fashion,. whatever it might if it's sartorial, he's a dandy. If it's intellectual, he's interested in the sort of political economy that andrew talked about.
