Will or Liberal Democratic Societies?

Philosopher John rawles asks if human beings can live and flourish in liberal democratic societies. The assumption over the years has been that, not only is this one of our greatest inheritances from the enlightenment, they would say, this is the absolute greatest political system that has ever been devised. Will or liberal democratic societies just another example of a delusional, naive enlightenment era ideal that can never actually work for any real length of time? He does not think we're all being naive. But despite him ultimately defending liberal democracy, his willingness to ask these tough questions about the assumptions that we're making politically will cement his place in history.
