Is It Possible to Film a Live Musical?
Hamilton is joining a small company of shows that have recently sort of gotten this treatment. Spike Lee filmed Passing Strange a few years ago, which was eventually broadcast on HBO and Tommy Kale has said in interviews that he kind of studied that filming to get some ideas for how to go about doing Hamilton. There are a lot of just on a practical industry level, incredibly complicated union contracts that make this very difficult to do.
